Good Run & Race Goals for Tomorrow - RunLog 9-24-15

This morning's run with Bennie was at a decent time, you know one where my body is awake, functional and my brain isn't still foggy from sleep. I much prefer to run between 9:00 and 10:00 than I do at O-dark-thirty.

With the race tomorrow at sunrise (yech), that is another reason I am not thrilled about it, I have to leave the house by 5:15 AM, I decided to just go completely by feel. Well according to how Bennie felt was a little more important.

He was his usual putsy self the first miles, having to get his message out to the rest of the critter populace that he is still around. The second mile he was a little better, then coming back from the old dump, a vehicle went in front of us - which meant that Bennie went hell-bent for leather to go get it.

I wasn't ready to maintain that pace, but we reached top-end without any problems and he only looked at me with that what are you doing slowing down already you old fart, then we plugged away up Stevens' Hill, without trying to push the pace. When we got up to the neighbors, they were driving out and needless to say Bennie decided that I needed another dose of speed to get ready for tomorrow's race.

Actually, we didn't push that hard during the run and still ended up with a close to 8:00 minute overall pace. Not too shabby.

Okay, my goals for the Rise 'N Shine 5K:

  1. Actually go. I just am not into the race scene right now, I'm enjoying just running too much I think, but going and racing is well not all that important.
  2. HAVE FUN
  3. Break 22:00 minutes
  4. Stretch goal - Break 21:20 my post - 55 PR
I know that I am not in shape and probably never will be to break 20:00 minutes again, unless it is on the treadmill, so while that will always be my ultimate 5K goal, each year it is becoming more difficult to be realistic.
