Walking Around Vaughan Woods

I may run later, but this is what we did this morning.

Over the past several years, we have heard about and read about Vaughan Woods in Hallowell, but never had gotten around to seeing what it was all about.

Well this morning, we to paraphrase Nike's motto..."Just did it".

It is easier to describe in photos than it is to write a lot of words about it.

It seemed like about 2 miles or so to get around and was a combination of groomed trails and some rooty stuff past the bridge. There are a few other trails meandering around in the woods, so you could probably get a few more miles out of it or do some laps if you wanted to run it.

The Vaughan Woods trails do have a few grades and one section might be considered a little more technical, but not too bad. I wore my Lunar Glide 5's and would not have wanted to use them for running in some sections of the trail section unless I went really slow.

Overall, I am glad that we went and I have a sneaking suspicion that we will be back, I know that I will go there to run the trails, but not to run them with Bennie. In some places having him attached to me and running on those trails probably wouldn't be a great idea.

  1. Gorgeous pictures ... perfect fall day - sadly I am winterizing the house (taking out AC's and so on) while Lisa works :)

    1. Thank you Mike, I replied to your comment yesterday, but for some reason it never showed up. We did that a couple of weeks ago, right before that first heavy frost, winter is coming for both of us, sooner than we think this year I have a feeling.
