Live a Little, Laugh A LOT - RunLog 11-20-15

Finally, a day that is closer to a "normal" day in the life - a very good thing. I was beginning to get into that screech mentality, where you don't have time for anything, you are tired all the time and everything just seems to start to overwhelm me.

I needed a change and yesterday, I did something that I haven't done in a long time.

Although we did have to contend with the rains, but you know something...I LIKE RUNNING IN THE RAIN!

As long as it is not that cold, freezing crap that usually comes around this time of year. Yesterday it was in the 50's and the rain felt good.

We will get to that later.

Like anyone that first step out the door when it is pouring out, is a little daunting, you look out and of go "eeennnhhhh", procrastinate a bit and finally go - "I gotta get this done". Once you are outside and finally gotten a bit wet, I know that I started to relax and was just trotting down the road, no glasses, no phone, just Bennie and I running.

I wasn't planning on a fast run and simply wanted to stretch the legs out a little. No, I am not going to put up the Strava Stats, they don't matter, yesterday's run wasn't about how fast or even how far we ran.

Nope, yesterday's run was about smiling, laughing, hooting and hollering, yelling at Bennie because we were having FUN!!!!!

Now it is a good thing that no one was following us with a video camera down-back.

We both got to feeling a bit silly and we splashed through and jumped up and down in a few puddles on the way back, well actually every puddle that we could find, played tug o'war and frolicked and didn't act like the proper adults that we are supposed to be.

I can see it up on YouTube now "Look out for the crazy old coot and a white dog, who are acting a bit like 10 year olds running and jumping through some pretty big puddles."

So yeah, we had some fun, didn't act our age, got a little LOT wet, a WEEEEE bit muddy and I know that I ended the run with a big grin on my face. Bennie, well he was Bouncing Bennie, mud everywhere and was looking at me like, can we go back down and do it again. Damn dawg!!!! ;-)

We almost did, but it was already 10:45 and I needed to get ready for work. Back to reality, but at least I was able to do it with a big grin and memories of just having fun for a change.

Sometimes it is just fun to relax, not act like an adult, laugh at yourself and the antics of your dog and just enjoy the moment without worrying about whatcha gotta do next, think about what others will think or anything, but having some harmless fun. It is good for your soul.

When was the last time you laughed like a 10 year old, who didn't have a care in the world?

If you haven't for a while, maybe you are taking yourself and life too seriously. Go out find some puddles splash and jump around in them, laugh, holler and hoot. Let yourself live a little, beyond that pallid existence that we seem lower ourselves into and don't attempt to move beyond or out of.

Smile, laugh, have fun and live a good life, it is the only one you have so make the best of what you got.
