Not A Great Day, But Great Runs - RunLog 12-23-15

This post originally appeared on One Foot In Reality.

Today was a pretty damn good...err great day for running and those have pretty far and few between for me lately. Even though the weather was rather dismal, foggy and wet, I ran well.

If you look closely you can see some footprints in the mud
Run #1

We started out slow and seemed to go slower. The road down-back was almost mud, but was wet on top, so I figured we would end up doing 4.0 miles and not worry about anything faster. We just ran along without any push, avoiding the worst of the mud and trying not soak down my feet too much.

We got to Wildwood and I decided to keep going to Notta Road, we haven't run that route for a long time and while it is only 1/2 a mile further up Tiffany Road, it is a different neighborhood and we usually run into other dogs in that section (which is the reason we don't run it). However, I figured that everyone would either be still at work or shopping, so the dogs would be inside.

It was just the way I thought it would be. Nice and quiet.

Although we did go slower during mile 4-5 and then pick it back up a bit again for the last mile.

Run #2

After we got back to the house I decided to go for a quick run at Planet Fitness on the treadmill. I knew that if I went ahead and ran outside that I would not run as fast or at the quality I needed. As you can see, I did a little progression run at a very controlled pace the entire way. Right now I am not as worried about super fast speeds, so it was fast enough.

Getting into the sub 8:00's was nice and I was looking to get a couple extra tenths, just go roll over to a higher total on the monthly mileage, I was stuck on *9.9 for a while. My OCD got the best of me.

I am wondering if I will get my 2,015 for 2015 or not, it could be close and while it is close, I haven't really been all that motivated to keep running as much as I need to, to get this goal. So we will see.

Only 50.9 miles to go, with 8 days left.
