It Is Official - Pearl Izumi 2016 Run Champion Team

This post was written for and first appeared on One Foot In Reality.

Even though I found out that I had been selected to be a 2016 Pearl Izumi Run Champion back in December and I have been active on their Yammer site, there is still that little thing in the back of your mind where you ask yourself - "am I really one" or was it just one of those "Harold being Harold dream things - that didn't really happen"?

Well tonight it just got a LOT more real.

This arrived in the mail.

My complimentary team gear that Pearl Izumi sent their run champions this year.

Yeah, it has Pearl Izumi written all over it and you know something I am now even more psyched about being a 2016 Pearl Izumi Run Champion.

However, I have a feeling that there will be more than a little pressure that I will put on myself, whether it is just me or is it just human nature, but all this nice gear is a little daunting. You know - me a small-time runner, getting to wear all of this great gear with Pearl Izumi written in such big letters...well I think you know what I mean.

I am honored to have been chosen to be a 2016 Pearl Izumi Run Champion Team and want to live up to name on the jersey when I wear it. I have a feeling that I might be a little more hyped up than usual when I put it on that first time to get out there and race, after all I am representing more than just myself now. So there is a just a bit of motivation to do more than I usually have.

However, now to make sure that I don't try to do too much...well we will see.

For shoes, I stayed with the N1 series, because I am having really good luck with them so far (I have bought the N1 Road and Trails). They have a nice amount of cushion, but are still light enough to run faster in, which is what I wanted. However, I did elect to give the N1 Tri's a go and will be seeing how they do over the next few weeks.

Well enough about me...on one of the flaps of the box that all this great stuff was shipped had this and I think it says a lot about Pearl Izumi.

I own a lot of Pearl Izumi gear that I have purchased over the years and I have found that this has been true from experiences with their clothing and shoes, the quality is definitely there, although I am not sure that my grandchildren are going want to wear too many of my heirloom running shirts when I get done with them. There is a certain aroma that TheWife can attest to that most of my running shirts have after I have worn them for a couple of years. :-)

Well, now to be a positive part of the Pearl Izumi 2016 Run Champion Team. It is going to be a fun year.

Disclosure I was selected on December 22, 2015 to be a member of the Pearl Izumi Run Champions Team and am positively predisposed to Pearl Izumi products. The items in this post are part of the complimentary team gear that was provided to me as part of the Pearl Izumi 2016 Run Champions Team. The opinions I have expressed are my own and your experiences with Pearl Izumi products might be different from mine. 1. Awesome Harold! I'm very happy for you :D All the best with the team and here's looking at some strong running from you!

  2. Congrats! This is awesome - I know you love their stuff and have written very fair looks at the products ... can't wait to read more!

  3. Thank you Nick and Mike - I plan to keep being honest about what I use of PI stuff, but so far their clothing and 7/8 of the shoes I have had work well for me. I am quite excited about it, I wonder where the year will lead and how things will end up. :-)

  4. AWESOME!!! Congratulations again! You bring a lot to the table for PI, and it's nice that they recognize your talents :)

    1. Thank you Stefan, it is something new for me and it was a surprise, now to see where it leads and have some fun with it.
