Nice Treadmill Run

This post was written for and first appeared on One Foot In Reality.

Damn it seems like I am spending way too much time on the treadmill lately. Spring has sprung and April Showers bring May Flowers and all that other horseshit. Oh well, I will be getting out there and running the majority of my runs outside pretty soon, but to be honest, I just didn't feel like running in the rain today, so the treadmill was my choice, not because I had to.

There now that the whine-fest is over, how did the actual run go.

I planned on a nice easy recovery run after yesterday's harder 5K race pace day for me.

Yeah, planned.

Actually, I thought I did pretty good, I kept it at 7.2 mph for most of the run and then picked up the pace towards the end end only because I was feeling pretty strong and want to get the old body used to that running faster at the end of the run, especially when it is tired.

The footpad/GPS falderall probably was a little off, so I think the 8:20 pace for most of the run would have been a bit more accurate, but I could tell that I was working pretty good, compared to treadmill #4 which pretty much was spot-on yesterday, so I will go with the idea that the treadmill I used today was set a bit faster than #4.

That is my story and I am sticking to it.

Yeah, yeah, I also had to battle that usual feeling at about 2.0 miles and did another 2.0 wishing that I could get off the treadmill, hit the locker room and then get back on to do a decent finish. Oh well, building that mental and sphincter toughness is a good thing.
