Getting Back to Normal - Slowly -- 1-23-2020

It seems we have left the sub-zero temps behind for a while, but I am sure that they will return, but I do know that Bennie is very happy not to be outside in those temps and is getting back into the routine of doing the full walk again.

This morning's sunrise was pretty spectacular

One good thing about getting outside this time of day are scenes like this.

On Bennie and Hunter's walk, it was about as nice as it gets during the winter. Temps in the high 20's, no breeze and bright sunshine. I know that Mary and I enjoyed the walk and the dogs seemed to relax a bit and not shiver nearly as much.

After walking the dogs I went to the gym again.

The hamstring is still bothering, but not nearly as much as it was earlier this week. So while I am staying active, I am not stressing it so much that it is not healing. However, I also know that it is not quite ready for running, so I will wait a while longer.

Warm-up routine
Body-weight squats (40)
Pushups (20)
Elliptical - 6.0 miles
Treadmill - 1.0 mile @ 3.5 mph @ 15% incline
Foamroll

I got a few errands done, got in a nice nap, which is an important part of my daily routine and I can tell when I do not have that 20-30 minutes to simply relax and do nothing but shut my eyes and block out the rest of the world.

Bennie gets his last walk between 3:30 and 4:00 and then Mary and I have started something new. We take time to walk almost a mile and enjoy getting to spend time together and go over what happened during the day, make plans and just be together.

In the evening I get to write, read and relax - usually with Bennie sitting in my lap, resting before it time to go to bed.

  1. I'm so glad you're being careful with that hamstring, and that the rest of your life is going so well.
